California North
(renamed Sierra Hot Springs in 1989)
There seems to be some confusion between this and Sierra Hot Springs. They are listed as 2 separate places in the book "Great Hot Springs of the West" '93, yet the descriptions and locations sound very familiar though PO box's different. Anyone know the truth here?

notes: According to our readers "Actually Campbell HS is not used but owned by Sierra HS. Sierra has their own wells that feed to only hot tub opened in winter." "Harbin bought it in like 1989 and named it Sierria hot springs...the spring comes out of the ground in 2 different places... where google map shows is where the one of the springs comes up by the main lodge and to the northwest on the hill about ¼ away the other spring comes up. Harbin also bought a hotel in the town Seirraville a few miles from the springs so one of the addresses might just be for the hotel."

07/31/2002- It's called Sierra Hot Springs now and it's a lovely place to go. People talked and laughed, read, played cards and visited. It was a very welcoming experience.

02/20/2002- [RE: Campbell Hot Springs] Sierra Hot Springs is in a beautiful mountain valley about twenty miles north of Truckee, CA. Affordable, scenic, friendly staff, great water. This is an excellent developed HS. Open year-round. Clothing optional. For more info, see their website at http://www.sierrahotsprings.org.

07/03/99- The last time I was up there, only one outdoor pool was open & the water was tepid. The indoor baths were also not very hot. The location is pretty nice & rustic. Good place to hide out from Tahoe if you are xc skiing. They were working on rehabilitating a much hotter spring. It was down a trail, muddy in the winter & frequented by local teeny boppers. But it is warm & nice. No answer when it would be completed. This place is associated with Harbin and has a non-intrusive New Age religion associated with it.

I was looking at your site and was reading this:
"There seems to be some confusion between this and Campbell's Hot Springs. They are listed as 2 separate places in the book "Great Hot Springs of the West" '93, yet the descriptions and locations sound very familiar though PO box's differerent. Anyone know the truth here?"
I lived by Campbell's hotsprings when it was “Campbell's” it was a yoga community and then Harbin bought it in like 1989 and named it Sierria hot springs.
I didn’t see the 2 different places but the spring comes out of the ground in 2 different places about a ¼ mile from each other.
Where google map shows is where the one of the springs comes up by the main lodge and to the northwest on the hill about ¼ away the other spring comes up.
Harbin also bought a hotel in the town Seirraville a few miles from the springs so one of the addresses might just be for the hotel.
