Always research road conditions, and if the hot springs are still open, before you hit the road. Even with all the great online sources, books are still a great thing to have, especially when you're on the road or hiking in the boonies!

6/18/2002- Accommodations: Nothing fancy but clean basic rooms with kitchenettes available at a very affordable price. Pools: Again, nothing fancy but clean. A single hot pool covered with a 4 season room. No outdoor pools. Mud baths and massages at very reasonable prices. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. probably the least expensive spa in Calistoga. I visit the Monterey area somewhat frequently because I have a friend who moved to the area from Illinois and he and his girlfriend, a California native, recommended Nance's. You may want to include in your posting that the no frills room with a kitchenette at Nance's was around $70.00 a night and included two beds. The mud bath with a half-hour massage was $40.00, but keep in mind I visited Calistoga around the year 1999 and prices have probably gone up a little.
