12/02/1999- I'm trying to find out if Big Bend Hot springs is still open. The number listed at your site doesn't seem to be in operation any more and directory service doesn't have a listing. I had a great time at there, it was cheap and funky, and was hoping to return there over Christmas.

8/29/2003- Just went to big Bend hot springs last month. $10.00 a head for the whole day. It was great we were the only two in the spring for three hours. There is a phone but I don't have it. you could call the school (Indian springs) in big Bend and talk to the staff. Big bend is a very small place.

Important News:

* Big Bend Hot Springs is currently CLOSED until further notice for Shasta County-required repairs and code upgrades.

* The "Big Bend Hot Springs Project" (BBHSP), a not-for-profit group, (including local community members and a large network of allies) are the new stewards.

* BBHSP is an inclusive group of stewards who do not believe in land "ownership," and see this as a community project. Representatives of BBHSP and members of the Big Bend community are now beginning the gradual work of bringing the special unique property back to its full potential.

Big Bend Hot Springs Project Core Goals:

1. To preserve and protect the land and resources as a natural area and wildlife sanctuary

2. To re-open the small-scale public camping and soaking business (closed in 2007)

3. To develop a model sustainable permaculture facility with geothermally heated greenhouses to grow food

Please check back at this web site for updates, and thanks for your support!

It is now January, 2013. Are you open yet? Last time I was there was 1989 and loved it. Please update your blog.

Big Bend Hot Springs is still closed as of Jan 2013, but they slowly seem to be making progress. They are looking for helpful people to help.

For details and the latest updates, please see their website at...

I live fairly close to the hot springs and have to say that as painfully slow as progress has been the grounds are showing 'improvement' towards the county's requirements--and the springs themselves reopening!
Anyone interested in the Big Bend Hot Springs should definitely check out their aforementioned official site www.bigbendhotsprings.org.
There are alternative hot springs scattered throughout the local area including the Hunt hot springs (a few miles west along the Pit River) and I've heard of a few near Burney Falls, not to mention a few colder ones near Faery Falls
